I use a 'cheap' method to mark control, coax, etc. cables.
Using MS Word or just plain DOS Edit, I prepare a label
for the cable. Label size, color, framing etc very flexible
in Word. Make lotsa' them, cut and apply with good
Scotch Magic Tape...several layers....good for many years.

A second method, use a Brothers PT Touch Labeler.
Tape cost is reasonable, available in matte, clear etc.
Several font sizes selectable. Makes a professional
looking job.You can also 'pretty -it-up' by 'framing'
the name.

My .02c (US$) or .03c (CA$) worth!

Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with the makers of Scotch Magic
Tape (tm). or Brothers P-Touch (tm).. Just a satisfied customer,
