I put a dab of RTV on my screws. My 402 has been up for over 10 years with
no problems....

Subject: [TowerTalk] Stainless lockwashers

Last weekend one half of one capacitor hat on the 402CD dropped to the
ground. Fortunately it was Sunday morning and most of the action on
40 was over for me in the DX contest.

After lowering the antenna and examining all screws (8-32 stainless)
holding the cap hat on, a few others were somewhat loose. All used
stainless lockwashers and were initially tightened reasonably.

I concluded that these tiny lockwashers don't hold and replaced the
nuts and washers with aircraft type nylock nuts.

Anybody else have problems with stainless lockwashers?
