Hi everyone ! I am putting up a tower for the first time and I have
several questions. one for now is this . I bought a 60 ft. aluminum
tower from Universal , It is a tip over free standing tower. my plans were
to put the tower together on the ground, run the coax, attach the rotor and
the antennas and then tip the tower up into position. from what I am
hearing on this reflector the tower might be too heavy to erect that way. I
have gotten some input from others and they say , erect the tower and then
climb the tower and attach the antennas the normal way , the manufacturer
does not recommend climbing but others say it is safe to do and have done so
with there aluminum towers ,again one of the reasons for buying such a tower
is the fact that it is a free standing tower with no guys, I figured I would
just tip the tower over to do any maintenance work or adding of new
antennas. the tower will be in a 5x5x5 concrete base, it has a 30 inch base
and it is rated at 21 square ft. of wind load. what do you think any one
have a tower such as mine ???? thanks John KB2HUK
