[TowerTalk] thoughts about property layout

Don't mess with the cross the yard wire. I had the same scenario at my
previous QTH except mine was diagonal across the back. I had a new service
put in from the front of the house with a new riser and lines to the street
pole rather than the alley pole. Cost was about 350.00. If no street pole at
your qth, then the other advice of burying it is a winner. Either way-stay
away from the above ground line. Tommy WD4K

Yep.  Do like I just did a year or two ago.  I talked about it for 10
years and finally did it.  Get with your electrical supplier and tell
them you want to bury the line.  They will put a meter pole at the edge
of the property and then bury the secondary the rest of the way to the
house.  I went from a 4-pole span to a single meter pole and new service
entrance.  The good news is, I got them to leave the old poles so I
could play with wires and other things on them.  It's also a good time
to increase the size of the secondary feed, should it need it.
