The first beam I ever bought was a TB-500.  I was about 17 at the
time and there was a order blank in QST for "$5 dollars down, $5
a month."  Sent my $5 and was on the air with a beam.  Just in
time for the '58 solar cycle (which wasn't too bad).  Worked 
lots of stuff with it and the Viking II.  Things were pretty
simple then.  I think Swan bought Hornet out and when they went
belly up, so did the antenna.  73
