Jerry,

Even with dissimilar antennas and NO phasing,
it is worthwhile having one at 40 ft and another at 80 ft.  

One of the MAIN benefits of the lower antenna is to fill 
in the null of the upper antenna.  Another benefit is 
directional diversity, i.e., point one antenna at Europe, 
the other for Africa / SA / Carib.  

A ring rotor or swing gate rotor for the low antenna is a plus.
You do not want to use a long boom antenna at the low
position unless it is in a stack of similar antennas.
