[TowerTalk] Yellow Jackets on Tower

Hi Jeff and gang,

I wouldn't play around with any bees anywhere but especially on a tower. A
sudden sting could cause you to fall or get injured from the reaction. I am
most allergic to yellow jackets (which usually live in holes in the
ground). Perhaps these are hornets or something that looks like a yellow
jacket. I'm told that bees venom is lease potent in the spring and most
potent in the fall. Watch out!

Anyhow, I almost died several times from yellow jacket stings. I was always
close enough to a hospital. Luckily, in 1982, I met an immunologist who
tested me and gave me "bee venom" shots every 6 weeks for over 10 years
before he felt I was sufficiently immunized for a minor hit. I have had a
few stings since and no real reaction since the immunization program.
However, just in case, I also carry an "EpiPen" which can be used for an
emergency self injection shot. It's cheap insurance.

Joe, W1JR
