Hi all,

I am in the market for an equipment enclosure. I'm interested
in one of the Rohn concrete or steel structures. I'm sure they are
expensive. Just how expensive are they? Can you find one used
or at auction?

Ideas?

Ron,
I can tell you that here in Florida the recommendation is to get the ground
rods down as deeply as you can. I was watching the Verizon Cable Company
installers at work the other day putting in a cable node cabinet. They put
in 6 rods around the slab and drove them in a minimum of 16 feet using a
thread type fitting to connect the 8 foot x 5/8" rods. I asked what was
standard, and they said minimum 16 foot....longer if you can drive them
in....they used an air driven driver to sink the long ones...one down to 32
feet. Florida Power uses 16 ft as their standard too.

Subject: [Towertalk] ground rod length question

Hi everyone:
Besides putting in a system of radials for my hygain hytower, I see that
it is also recommended to install three or six ground rods right under (or
beside) the hytower. Would you experts please comment as to the number and
length of these ground rods. I can buy locally 16 foot ground rods... I was
thinking of cutting them in half to have 8 foot ground rods.... any
comments? Thanks from Ron VE4 Super Rabbit
