[Towertalk] Hook-In-Mouth

For all of you out there that have tuners with roller inductors I put to you 
my dilema.
Bought a roller inductor tuner at a hamfest last weekend. While the unit 
appears almost new the SWR jumps all over the place while moving the inductor.
>From what I can see the only two possible explanations are that the tension 
springs that hold the roller to the coil are weak or the coil is in desperate 
need of cleaning. Since that appears to be the easiest remedy I thought I 
would start there.
Can anyone advise me the best way to clean the inductor coil ??  (C-4 is not 
an option)
