[Towertalk] Antenna Restrictions

Fellow Tower Talkers:

Miracles never cease with homeowners associations.

A ham friend of mine who lives in South Texas in a deed restricted development has actually gotten
APPROVAL from his homeowners association board of directors and their attorney after a hearing to put
up a TriEX WT 51 crank up tower with no restrictions, etc. He faxed me a copy of the letter the HOA's
attorney sent him and all it says is to comply with normal engineering standards for the WT51.

He was very upfront in his letter of application of what he wanted to do and the antenna he will put
up, a Telrex TB6EM. No threats of PB-1 or anything like that, just very straightforward. He did
mention he was a member of RACES, Skywarn, etc. and the area where he lives in South Texas had recently
undergone severe flooding and hams received newspaper and TV coverage of what they did to help out.

It also helped that he was good friends with the HOA Board president.
