I would agree with this. When I lived in Japan, I couldn't get a bb gun to
shoot the pigeons roosting on my balcony, inches from my head. They'd wake
me up earlier and earlier and had me wishing Japan had daylight savings
time so I could sleep past 4:30AM.

I got an illegal modified plastic pellet gun that would shoot through an
aluminum can, but didn't phase the pigeons.

What worked was the super-soaker I got from a Toys-r-us.

If you can get at the birds, I'd suggest a super-soaker. Otherwise, you're
going to have to either tape tacks to the element, or put a string just
above it on supports so the birds can't roost.
