A few years back in CQ magazine there was an article about
helically wound verticals.  They were wound on PVC and worked
very well.  We had one for field day which worked 40, 20 (and 30
thrown in for good measure).  They had a PVC base and vertical
sections.  The 30 meter one used the 40 meter bottom half and the
30 meter top half and the 20 meter one had it's own top and
bottom half.  The whole thing broke down into a real slick
package.  Gonna make one for myself for FD this year.  73
