What frequency range are we talking about?

I doubt they make a 90 for LDF5, but it's totally impractical anyway.  You 
are likely to break the connector on the radio if you do anything wrong 
because the torque arm of the hardline will be tremendous.

If you are talking HF, the loss of using a short flexible cable and an 
extra connector will be miniscule.  Use LMR500 or similar cable if you are 
really concerned about it.  You need to have a lightning arrestor or 
disconnect equipment in most areas anyway.

Are there 90-degree connectors available for LDF5 cable? If you were to 
run
a length of such cable, how do you terminate to connect back to the rig,
etc? I am assuming that the hard line is only run as far as some sort of
connector/panel/bulkhead terminating in a connector to allow a more 
flexible
cable tail to run to the equipment? If so what cable tails are best at 
what
length to minimise attenuation or does it not matter as the length of the
tails is so short?
