[Towertalk] UPS.....and CCRC

I had a somewhat different experience due to having been warned about
this problem. Before ordering I phoned UPS, told them I wanted to clear
it myself and asked what the shipping docs should show. They explained
quite clearly and said the shipper should write the same thing on the
carton as well as in the docs. I don't remember the exact wording,
something like, "Customer will clear own." I phoned the vendor,
ordered the item and told them what to put in the docs and on the carton.

When the item arrived UPS phoned me and asked if I would like them to
clear it through Customs. I said No, went to UPS office at Vancouver
Airport, got the forms, took them to Customs, took what they gave me
back to UPS, got the package, loaded it into my car and went home. A
PITA but no hassles from UPS.

Hope this helps
