[Towertalk] split boom

Let's chat ... Just move the element, don't sweat "the small stuff" ..
hey? One inch on a TA-33 won't hurt your signal squirt .. nor would 2 -3
inches....might change things, but not necessarily DAMAGE YOUR Db GAIN! ...
for instance, you do NOT .. I would suppose .. work ONE frequency on each
band .. ?? Like, 20M .. if, like most of us hammers, you slide up and
down the band, your aerial becomes ... according to all the new computer
designed whiz bangs, OUT OF TUNE .. well, NOT ...but, it is not OPTIMIZED..
but then, what is optimal? Hmmm. With the different frequencies we use..
usually .. during the course of Amateur Radio operations .. the EXACT specs
of an antenna are more or less MOOT .. not to say to throw the baby out with
the bathwater! Like, as to SWR .. Old Man Mosley said . out loud in his
destruction manuals .. "a 5 to 1 VSWR is totally acceptable" .. well, of
course, that was in "hollow state" days .. now, with the SWR foldback on a
some rigs, that would not be true, not because of the lack of performance of
the antenna, howsoever. Back to it .. your TA-33 won't EVEN know if
you take a one inch bite .. and, any ham worth his/hers salt can figure out
something to stick in that end of the boom to make it whole again .. a trip
to your local hardware store's electrical section .. or whatever .. just be
creative. Great to work on problems, though, n'est-ce-pas? 73 (Only one
.. `tis enough best regards for anyone) .. Mark . AA6DX
