Hi Folks,

This weekend I took two old Butternut HF6V vertical antenna and mounted
them end to end to create a rotating dipole. I had been using them as a
phased array at a past QTH and they were just in the aluminum pile at
the new QTH.

I was surprised that the dipole tuned up right in the middle of the 40m
phone band with a 50 ohm input impedence. What am I missing? I thought
for sure the input impedence would have been lower than 50 ohms!

thoughts,
