[Towertalk] Ball bearings in pulleys

When I got my first Rohn gin pole the hole in the pulley was SO off-center
that the pulley would wobble and that would get transmitted to the
gin pole itself. And the whole thing would oscillate back and forth.

So I bored out the aluminum pulley to allow me to press in a bronze
bushing. You can get various bushings that have been impregnated
with oil and these will ride on the steel shaft (bolt) very smoothly.

Only tricky part is getting the new hole for the bushing in the center
of the pulley. Easy if you have a lathe like I do--but a bit more tricky
if you don't. But a 6-pack to your local machinist would probably get
the job done in a couple of minutes.
