I got a lightweight extension ladder, and lashed it to my RT-1832 tower for
climbing. That way, my weight is on the ladder, and the tower is just
providing stability.

I assembled the tower completely on the ground, then spilt it into top
and bottom parts. I then could mount the bottom on the roof more
easily (it was messy, because of the way I did it), and used the
ladder as a gin pole to install the top on the bottom. I put the
rotator and mast in the top section before installation.

   Hi guys,

The RT1832 just arrived today along with the lag screws, thrust-bearing,
side-arm, etc. I have some questions regarding climbing the thing. GM
recommends not doing it. However, how in the heck do I get the antenna up
there? The guy on the phone basically said that if I decide to climb it,
not to go all the way to the top (within two feet of the top is fine
according to him). Anyone have any experience climbing the taller GM roof
top towers? I cannot wait to get this thing up there. My Hexbeam awaits...

BTW... I did get a climbing harness and the appropriate lanyard... just has
   not arrived yet.

   Thanks es 73!
