As I stated before, Philly is the way to go. However, a good alternative is
the fiberglass rod.

Not too long ago K4JA led a group of several guys who purchased a LARGE
quantity of 11000 pound glass rod (I believe it was around 20000 feet or so).
Paul also arranged for a large quantity of custom made guy grips to be
fabricated for the rod. I don't have the actual numbers, but I believe the
price came out to around $.40 a foot and the grips ran around $7.00 each.
Paul did an outstanding job coordinating this and all the guys who
participated saved a bundle. The cost came out to be 1/3 that of 6700 pound
Phillystran.

I believe all the hams who participated in the purchase have all the glass
rod they need, but maybe there are others out there who might want to try a
group purchase. It is a viable alternative to EHS and Philly.
