You may wish to try another option of N-connector type as well.  Cable
Experts sells a two piece N connector that is really nice.  Works up to
about 2 GHz, so it's not as good as a standard type N.  The center pin and
main body are soldered onto the coax just like a PL-259.  The the gasketed,
knurled shield nut screws down on top of it all.  It's great.
