[TowerTalk] double figure 8 bend

The fig 8 is popular among climbers because it is so foolproof.  You can see
if it's tied wrong, you can feel if it's tied wrong (yep, there you are, in
the dark, in the rain, rapping off a climb a bit later than you
thought....), and it doesn't require extreme manual dexterity (good with
beat up hands in the cold when you need to join two ropes to make that 150
foot rappel).

bowlines are popular among riggers (untieability after loading), and I've
(mis)spent many hours in the dark on a film set fooling with rigging knots
of one kind or another, but the figure 8 is my favorite... easy to tie, hard
to screw up, even if it's a pain to untie after loading.  You can also take
an extra turn or two to make it easier to untie.
