[TowerTalk] Rohn

THis is off topic...BUT since the subject is up...

It was George Bush Sr. who started the push for NAFTA, not Clinton. The
deal was pretty much done when Clinton came on the scene, and to renege
would have been disastrous for US foreign policy. Conservative free traders,
not liberals, forced NAFTA onto the stage. Just like conservative free
traders are today involved in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and efforts
to globalize the market economy. (National Review, for example, slammed
Bush Jr. when he imposed steel tariffs 2 years ago, and rejoiced when the
WTO said they were illegal).

And it was a REPUBLICAN CONGRESS...which Clinton worked with, that gave
approval to NAFTA...that includes the Republican congress Bush worked with
when he was president.

And the effect of NAFTA? Zip. It has had almost no effect either way on
American or Mexican jobs. NPR's been carrying a program on the effects all
week. Our economy is $11 trillion dollars...it dwarfs Mexico's. There's no
physical way Mexico could hurt the US economy via NAFTA.
