1.  Teach the ground crew how to tie a bowline; especially when they tie onto 
something to be hoisted up.  It's strong and easy to untie.

2.  I have a 1/4 inch dacron line with pulley snatch block ready to go and 
bring it up with me virtually everytime I climb.  You always remember what you 
forgot to bring up after you're up!

3.  FRS radio or cell phone to communicate with the ground crew.  Beats yelling.

4.  Brown cotton jersey gloves with rubber dots all over.  Provides secure hand 
hold on slippery steel members.
