[TowerTalk] Edible cable jackets

Make sure the cable covering is okay with gasoline - many are not.
I put my cables either in plastic pipe or I bury the cables. Where they come
out of the ground and are accessible to the critters, I periodically spray
diluted "Red Hot" on the cables. It seems to have worked so far.

Rodents love the smell/taste of new cables. I have been told that
manufacturers use animal fat as a lubricant in the manufacturing process
(sounds like a
fairy tail but who knows?). The next time I install a new cable I plan to
wipe
it down with a gasolene soaked rag hopefully removing the good smell/taste.
