I was inspired by the messages in the archive to put
up a tribander for the WPX contest -- a bunch of rope,
some sailboat pulleys, an A3S, a radio-shack rotator,
120 feet of RG8 and 3-conductor rotor cable -- Voila,
a rotatable beam at about 50 feet.
Yes, East and West were reversed on the control box. I
suspect that maybe switching two leads would get me
the right controls, but I got this up into the final
position the morning before the contest, and couldn't
really try that out.
Didn't know the bands actually opened that early in my
location -- my G5RV has been silent in the early
mornings lately. Had some stations call ME over the
pole. That was a kick. CQ's with wire antennas aren't
productive for me on 20-15-10.
Here's a picture (it's a big file):

Thanks to the list for the inspiration - I've already
taken this down in anticipation of a 2nd-hand tower
I'll be moving from another ham's QTH.
