[TowerTalk] V & H Polarization

Some years ago, I was given a Moonraker 4 quagi which is an Antenna Specialists CB 4 element beam. It had two directors on both V & H, a gamma matched V & H driven element, and a quad reflector turned as a diamond in the back. I found info to cut this antenna down for 10 meters, which worked out well as it had been damaged near the hubs by an ice storm.
I used it with two coaxes and could switch A/B: V or H polarization for a while, then got the idea to combine them and see what happened. I was delighted enough with the results to make it permanent out at the antenna instead of having two coaxes run there I went with one and calculated a phasing harness to co-phase the V & H. What I experienced was much as a previous post mentioned. Yes, some peak readings declined but QSB was reduced and the overall reception was improved in quality.
I had the whole thing mounted on top of 3 sections of Rohn tower and enjoyed several years during sunspot peak working the world this way.
Best Regards
