[TowerTalk] Tower mounted power amplifier

There...back on thread...
(the devil made me do it)

So, if your big momma Power Amp were mounted at the antenna
feedpoint, at the top of your tower, you could put 1500 watts
into your antenna. What, then, prevents you from measuring
the transmission line loss, and adjusting transmit power to
make up for it?

In an extension of that thinking, suppose you have a no-tune amp
which can match only 50 ohms, and uses a remote tuning network,
as its 'final tuning', which is located in a box at the top of
your tower. Can you adjust power into 50 ohms, to make up for
losses in the coax run, and matching network?

Recognizing that this is an academic discussion...
We can continue the banter off-reflector.
