I shipped  about 75 packages per day using FedEx Ground without complaint for 
the past 2 years.  Both FedEx Air & Ground have served me without incident as 
far as shipping ham equipment.   I have found the FedEx folks to be very 
helpful in suggesting packaging for odd pieces that require special attention.  
You might get a suggestion from your local FedEx office on what would be the 
safest and most economical approach.
