[TowerTalk] Aluminum Pipe/Tubing Needed

I bought the WB0W gin pole. The tubing is indeed 1/4 inch thick, and it is
6061 aluminum. The only negative to ordering with the other WB0W parts is
the shipping cost. I paid the shipping because I could not locate a pole
like this locally.

You might be able to buy a lesser quality pole locally, but then that
negates the reason for buying the other pieces from WB0W. The pole, bracket
and head he sells can be used to lift VERY heavy loads.

Subject: [TowerTalk] Aluminum Pipe/Tubing Needed

Looking for a 12' length of aluminum pipe/tubing 1/4" wall, 1.5" ID / 2" OD,
to use in a gin pole application. While this can be located outside my
immediate area, I was hoping someone on the list could provide a lead for a
local stock in the Houston area. Most of the Yellow Pages sources I have
tried have come up empty handed. I'd prefer not to have to look through
every scrap yard in Houston. Any locals out there with some ideas?

Related question.. Is 1/4" wall overkill for 45G? I will be using the gin
pole clamp/head from WB0W. I don't recall the wall thickness on Rohn's gin
pole design, but seem to think it was not this thick. Maybe 1/8" wall would
work?
