[TowerTalk] Concrete base information

Since I don't think my outbuilding will cope with the stresses of a
MA-40 eave mount, and I'm reluctant to spend the money that US Tower
wants for their stand-alone base (and I can't raise it their way
anyway), I'm thinking about embedding a piece of 4" pipe about 15'
total in a chunk of concrete to mount the tower to.

I think using US Towers specified size and rebar arrangement for the
MARB/MAB is a reasonable starting place (see
http://www.ustower.com/40fs.pdf). I note that the anchor bolts for that base
are just stuck into the concrete. Is it appropriate to just stick my
piece of pipe into the pier footing, and fill it with concrete?
I suspect I'd want a bit of gravel at the bottom of the hole to provide
drainage.

I'd only be putting a vertical on top of, and a dipole end hung from,
the tower, an MA-40 equivalent, since it'd be very close to my
property line, too close for a guyed pushup mast.

Comments, and sources of information welcomed.
