Gregg,

It "works" as a way of getting the Hy-Tower on 160 meters.

1) the resulting antenna is an inverted L of about 24' height.

2) The feed impedance is quite low (SWR will be relatively
high unless you have a very lossy ground system).

3) The efficiency of a 24' tall inverted L will be quite low

4) The inverted L will have a substantial amount of high angle
horizontally polarized response (as much or more than the
low angle, vertically polarized response ... particularly
if you have poor ground and/or a sparse radial system).

The MK-160A is very expensive ($120 list) for what it is -
an ordinary 40 meter trap. The MK-160A is one half of the
DP-2BDQ trap dipole which lists for $140!

You can save a lot (ca. $65) by buying a PAIR or Reyco KW40
traps from AES ($42.99 @ www.aesham.com) or Radioware/Radiobooks
($41.79 @ www.radiobooks.com) and essentially making your own
MK-160A.
