[TowerTalk] Rotor plates

I have an AS455G plate that had TB3 installed in 1998. It was taken off a
tower that was located near the Gulf Coast. Upon removal of the TB3, it was
discovered there was no rust in the holes. There was evidence of cold
galvanizing paint. The steel used for the plate must be rust resistant.

There is (almost) nothing harder to drill than galvanized plate like the
Rohn rotor plates!

I had to take mine to a shop to have it done by someone with a very
heavy-duty drill press and proper very-hard bits. It took a while, with some
cursing thrown in.

Cold galvanizing will probably not hold up against moisture in that
application (threads will wipe it away), but you can start there.

What do others suggest?
