[TowerTalk] Installing a PL-259 on Buryflex

Hi there:

I love Bury-Flex cable and have never had any trouble with it. I have
installed dozens of PL-259's on this cable. My method is the "3/4" - 3/4"
rule" - set your cable cutter to 3/4" and cut to the center conductor. Take
your pliers and gradually twist the insulation off. Do not just pull it off
- you will lose the natural twist of the copper stands. Just gradually turn
and pull. Then do a light 3/4" cut to just the shield and your ready to go.
This works every time. There are some cables that I have to file and do
other maneuvers to get the center conductor to fit a connector - LMR-400
Flex to a N-connector is most notable !

Subject: [TowerTalk] Installing a PL-259 on Buryflex

Hello All
Well I spent over an hour trying to install a stupid PL-259 on the end of
Buryflex coax and I never did get it on ( it started raining again). I have
done this before but this time it seems that the center conductor is too big

to go into the pin of the PL-259 the strands fold back and keep the pl259
from going all the way on. I tried to tin the center conductor of the coax
then it differently was too big!!!
I fell real stupid that I can't get a simple PL-259 solder on to a piece of
coax. anyone else have this problem? are there any tricks to this ? or am I
just real real stupid!!!
