[TowerTalk] Tower Surface Area for Paint.

Dear all,
 
Do anyone have the formula to estimate the surface area of the tower to be used to calculate the paint quantity? I'm using "Tower weight(tonne) x 35 = tower surface area" - a formula  from Dufay and can only be applied on Angle leg tower but I need to calculate manually the surface area for pipe leg. The help is much appreciated.
