Paul,

The Preformed Line Products tech bulletin for Big Grip Dead-Ends for
Phillystran Structural Guys says the 3/8 inch nominal grip will fit a Strand
Diamemter from 0.337 to 0.394 inches.

As to the ripple, I would contact Phillystran technical support on Monday
and ask.  If there is a problem, they should make good on it. I have used
Phillystran on my tower installations and have some scrap end pieces in the
basement.  They are perfectly round and smooth.  I have never seen what you
are describing.
