modems, protocols, X10, etc., you really need a forum for THAT. I'd suggest
that someone start a 'remote station' reflector and people interested in
THAT topic can go nuts. When you get to the point of having tower and
antenna questions, come on back to TT and we'll be happy to help."

At the risk of being off-topic again, I wanted to advise that I have just
set up such a group on yahoogroups.com. The title is Ham Station
Automation, and the e-mail address is hamautomation at yahoogroups.com. To
quote from the group's charter:

"This group has been set up to facilitate the discussion of computers,
remote control, and other forms of automation as they apply to the
construction and operation of amateur radio stations. It is not intended to
replace groups devoted to particular brands of equipment, specific software
packages, and the like, but to assist with more general problem-solving.
For example, a question about the use of the software package DX4WIN
belongs on the mailing list for that purpose (dx4win at mailman.qth.net), but
a question like "how do I control a computer at a remote station site, so
that I can reboot it remotely if it freezes?" would be appropriate here.

I will administer but not moderate the group (not reading and approving
messages before posting, for example). If demand warrants, the group's
purpose can evolve in whatever direction its members desire.

Please feel free to contact me with comments or questions."
