So, just purchase a copy and don't say you are a ham.
That's done all the time with airplanes. Suppliers don't want their products 
such as resin, or springs, or bearings, or ... you name it, used in 
airplanes, so there are a lot of boats out there that go really fast and 
high. <:-))
If we want a part for an airplane we're building we (as in a group) do not 
tell them it's for an airplane.

One resin supplier says they will not let their resin be used for airplane 
building due to liability, but one major kit builder uses it.  Good stuff 
too.   I need to call them and see if I can get some 5 gallon engineering 
samples for the "boat" I'm going to build.
