[TowerTalk] Tower Conundrum

How does this help?  I have a full size 40m beam and a 90'+  80m element on
the top of one of my towers and the mast is discolored from being hit by
lightning.  I have also witnessed one strike and it looked like it the mast
and not the antenna elements.  I've often wondered how well those stepper
motors hold up to lightning strikes, a know my rotors don't particularly
care for it.

Tommy.....Most of the guys who have any of the SteppIR antennas retract the
elements during possible storm times. Not much for lightning to strike then.
Certainly much less conductive surface than anything you are planning, when
the
elements are retracted.
