Even easier is to use truck or car inner tube. Cut it so it drapes over the 
top of the bearing. Secure it to the top of the mast with a hose clamp.

If your bearing has a Zerx grease fitting(sp?) mine did, this is what you 
are supposed to do. It purges water and ensures everything is properly 
lubricated. I used a good quality all temp grease.

The bearing didn't fail, the tower leg did YMMV :-)
