John,

Thanks for the info and encouraging words. I have a Rohn catalog. One
responder with a sharp eye posted back that the stamp on the tower shows
Spaulding, a company apparently bought out by Rohn back in the 70's. You
can see this in photo 414d.

It looks like a Rohn BX-series, and if so, it should have BX-series PN's
inscribed on the various metal parts. There's an installation manual still
out there on-line - that's where I got a copy. I have a 40', and if
installed correctly and within their guidelines, should still be serviceable
and usable for moderate HF beams. The literature gives windload details
which are based on which model you have and the height of installation.

Good luck!

RE:	A friend here recently purchased a home that has a free-standing
tower with a TV antenna on top. It needs to be removed. Please take a look
at photos on my web site:

Does anyone know if this tower could be used for a moderate HF antenna?
Judging by the rust it has been up a long time. Would it be worth the time
and trouble to refurbish?

Thanks for your comments.
