[TowerTalk] dumbing down - NVIS vs DX or ??

NVIS is not an all-purpose antenna, it is a specific-purpose
antenna.

Where a DX antenna is best suited for distant stations a NVIS
is best suited for more local/regional (depending on band,
conditions, etc.) Neither is an acceptable substitute for the
other.

I want to get from just north of Tampa to Miami and a DX antenna
will frequently cause my signal to skip Miami entirely, I either
use NVIS or waste my time.

During emergencies most communication is local/regional, thus a
DX antenna may be all-but useless.

Conclusion: It is not an "or" decision but is an "and" decision.
