Excellent question, Chuck.  Mine has been through a winter ice storm with 
absolutely no problems, here at 7500 feet in the Rockies.  Here's a picture 
of my SteppIR after the storm:

The antenna bounced right back.  Should the ice/snow de-tune the antenna, 
you can modify the element lengths to get it back in tune.  Another nice 
feature.  A friend has one in Alaska - works like a champ.

Thus far, they seem to handle various climates without a problem.
