How do I change the dial from "N" center to "S" center and be able to swing 
through north.  Hope that makes sense??

On the older control boxes you can take the dial face plate out and turn it 
over. South center was on the other side.  On later versions they gave a
second 
face plate with south center.
There should be some south centered dials out there that no one used.

1. Disconnect power.
2. Remove the control cable....unless you have enough slack to work on the
unit.
3. Remove the top and bottom covers.
4. Slip the lamp and holder off the lamp holder bracket and swing the
bracket clear of the wires leading to the circuit board.
5. Remove the nuts on the meter studs to release the circuit board and slip
the PC board off the studs and pull it down under the chassis.
6. Loosen the meter retaininig clips and remove the meter from the chassis.
7. Insert something like a pen knife between the clear meter cover and black
housing at either corner on the top edge and pry the cover loose from that
corner.  Repeat for the other corner.  Meter cover should pop off.
8. Slip a pen knife nder each corner of the lower edge of the white meter
scale and twist util the scale clears the two small indexing pins.  Remove
the scale, turn it over and reinstall. (Make sure the scale fits over the
indexing pins and that it is flush and tight against the black housing.)
9. Reinstall the meter, PC board and lamp holder/lamp.  Make sure no wires
are pinched and then close it up.

One big difference in the type wire used is the soil common in your
area. For instance,
GA has very acid soil in my area, so copper is out of the question.

I use galvanized ground rods and insulated wire.

Can anyone tell me where to get specs on the base cage and mount for the 
Tri-ex LM472.  I need to buy one or have one built because we are planning 
to move and take the tower with us.

You have to be kidding!  After over 30 years of procrastinating about
ordering "S" center meter scales now you tell me!  My present rotors are
1978 vintage.  Living in Michigan I have mentally adding or subtracting for
that long on my VHF stuff.  

You don't get NOTHING by me .. I notice the details!

Well, the earlier models did not have the reversible scales - not sure when
it came in, but you still may be out of luck.  If not the black plastic
later model cabinet,  I doubt it would be there.
