[TowerTalk] Guying a tiltover tower

I'm using 60 ft of R25 tilted over using the W3GM
method. Gerry had four 100ft, a 60ft, and two 50ft
towers and they all used this method. Gerry did not
climb! W3MM, N2TK, and myself use this method (maybe
others). You CANNOT use a stock Rohn hinged baseplate!
You need to reinforce the stock model or build your
own heavy duty hinged base. There is a picture of the

I use a 2500 LB winch with a two pulley arrangement to
give me an additional 2 X 1 mechanical advantage. BTW,
the tower is 4-way guyed so it can be tilted over by
just removing the safety cable and loosening the
"side" guys. W3GM used this method for over 30 years
with great success. We had them up and down all the
time.
