[TowerTalk] [BULK] - Tashjian Towers

I've had perfect luck with Tashjian, and the LM354HD is a good tower.
However, if you're thinking about extending and retracting it fairly often,
definitely get the HDSP model which comes with a motor drive, rather than
the HD which comes only with a hand crank winch. The tower is very heavy
and it takes quite a lot of effort to turn the crank, made more so when you
add antennas. It takes me probably a good ten minutes to extend an LM354HD
and it's exhausting. The motor drive makes it effortless and it fully
extends or retracts in about two minutes. -WB2WIK/6

Subject: [BULK] - [TowerTalk] Tashjian Towers
Hello Towertalkians,
My name is Michael, KE7ENC.
I have been reading the list for some time now, and I question for the
group.
I am looking at buying a Tashjian Tower LM-354-HD. www.tashtowers.com
I live in a very windy place so I need the extra safety and security of a
beefy tower. This particular tower is rated at 60sqft @ 70mph at the
extended 54' height. I'd like it to tilt-over and/or crank down. This tower
does both. I looked into aluminum because of the weight but I haven't got
any replies from the companies so that ruled them out as a choice.
My question(s), does anyone have any experience with Tashjian Towers? Has
anyone used this particular tower? How difficult is it to crank up and down?
My plan is to lower the antenna when not in use and raise it to use it as
precautionary measures. I am looking at the FluidMotion SteppIR MonstIR 40-6
yagi to place on top. I am however open to suggestions on both the tower and
the antenna.
Thanks!
Michael Wood
