[TowerTalk] Digging a tower foundation hole

Not all backhoes are created equal.  You don't need a big or medium-sized
backhoe.  There are mini-versions available, sometimes found at rental 
companies.
For the large hole for my self-supporting Trylon, I rented one (it was 
called a
"Termite", though there are others), and dug the hole my self.  It even had 
a
small bucket on the front, making it easy to move the dirt around.  It was a
neat machine, quite small, but had plenty of power, and was capable of
digging more than 8' down.  Check out the miniature backhoes, and see
if one might fit.  Sure beats using a shovel!
