I have no "scientific" proof that these things work, but I'd bet on it:

Re: fiberglass dust, etc....
1) rub exposed skin with cornstarch prior to generating or being exposed to
     any dust, the theory being that filling up skin pores with cornstarch 
inhibits
     filling them up with 'glass dust. If it only lasts 5 minutes before 
sweat drains
     it off, that's 5 minutes less of the evil crud in you.
2) When done, wrap one hand with Duct tape, with the adhesive facing OUT,
     i.e. "inside-out", and roll it over exposed skin, hopefully removing 
some of
     the irritant dust.
3) Then, take a C-O-L-D shower, the idea being to get the crud off of you 
without
     giving the pores a reason to open up and allow the 'glass to get in.

The first six weeks immediately following high-school were at a local boat
manufacturing plant, and I had a *lifetime* of itch in that period.
