Actually, while I completely agree with those who feel Tesla was short
changed by history, it's the other way around.  Edison's electric grid was
DC; it was Tesla who championed AC.

The reason for DC over AC is lower transmission losses. They have
experimented with lines up to 1 million volts in the U.S. and we do have
some lines running DC now in the states.You can blaim Thomas Edison for all
our AC troubles, Tesla had it right.
