The other "winners" will be the ham radio equipment retailers. All of a
sudden we'll have a whole bunch of folks wanting to upgrade and add radio
gear to their shacks. And that's not a bad thing.

In addition, the value of our used HF gear just went up. How much, its hard
to say.

I welcome the new additions to the HF bands. It will be up to all of us to
help them adapt and sharpen their HF skills.

As a student of history I find your comment completely ignorant.

The elimination of effective licensing requirements destroyed the Citizens
Radio Service in the late 70's and early 80's. With US Amateur Radio
license examinations so simple that a "even caveman could pass them," the
Commission has put the Amateur Service on the same path to destruction.

One need only listen to the trash that passes for VHF repeater activity in
many of the larger metropolitan areas these days to see the future of HF
allocations in the US. This comes on the heels of the largest expansion in
voice allocations ever - entirely at the expense of spectrum for digital
modes.

Whether you like the way it was expressed or not, "breaker one-nine"
is exactly what you will be hearing on the HF bands soon. The only winners
are the freebanders.

"Turn out the lights - the party's over." The fat lady just sang.
