.....to which I would add:  Wind these three layers of 33 or 88 tape onto the connector first upward, then downward, then upward (if the connector will hang vertically.)  In this way you will be forming an outer layer like roofing shingles on top of the connector, allowing water to flow OVER the tape rather than INTO it at the edges.
